Description

Try our Spicy Guacamole Recipe! Fresh avocados with a hint of heat. Great for Appetizers, snacks, meals, or by the spoonful!

Ingredients

Scale
    • 3 large avocados
    • 3 tablespoons lime juice, freshly squeezed from 1 1/2 limes
    • 1 medium tomato, seeded and diced
    • 1/2 white onion, finely chopped
    • 1/2 cup cilantro, from 1/2 bunch
    • 2 serrano peppers, finely chopped (or use jalapenos for milder guac)
    • 2 cloves garlic, pressed
    • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, or to taste
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

Instructions

  1. Cut avocados in half, remove the seeds, and scrape them out into a flat-bottomed bowl. Smash with a potato masher or a fork. Squeeze lime juice directly over avocados.
  2. Chop the onion and add it to the bowl. Remove seeds from jalapenos, finely dice, and add to the bowl.
  3. Cut the tomato in half parallel with the top and remove seeds. Dice your tomatoes and add them to your bowl.
  4. Press garlic and chop your cilantro, then add them to the bowl.
  5. Add 1/2 teaspoon dry cumin powder, 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and serve right away.

Notes

  • Choosing Ripe Avocados: Select ripe avocados for the best texture. They should yield slightly when gently squeezed. If they’re too hard, the guacamole will be lumpy. If they’re too soft, it might turn brown quickly.

  • Adjusting Spice Level: The spiciness of your guacamole depends on the type and quantity of peppers you use. Serrano peppers are hotter than jalapenos, so choose according to your heat preference. You can also remove the seeds and membranes for a milder flavor.

  • Storing Guacamole: Guacamole can turn brown when exposed to air. To prevent this, place plastic wrap directly on the surface of the guacamole to minimize air exposure before refrigerating. This will help keep it fresh and green.

  • Serving Suggestions: Guacamole is fantastic with tortilla chips, but you can also use it as a condiment for tacos, burritos, or as a dip for vegetables. It’s a versatile and delicious addition to various dishes.

  • Variations: Feel free to customize your guacamole with additional ingredients like diced red onion, a squeeze of lemon juice, or a pinch of chili powder for added flavor.
