Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Layer
- 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips (one whole bag)
Pretzel Layer
- 8 oz pretzels (half of a 16-oz bag)
Caramel Layer
- 11 oz Kraft caramel (one whole bag)
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
Topping
- Sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- Prepare baking sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside to prevent sticking and for easy removal of the bark.
- Melt chocolate: Place the 12 oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring after each interval until fully melted and smooth.
- Spread chocolate: Pour about two-thirds of the melted chocolate onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. Spread evenly to form a base layer.
- Add pretzels: Scatter the 8 oz of pretzels over the chocolate base, pressing them gently to adhere but not worrying about perfect placement.
- Melt caramel: In a separate microwave-safe bowl, combine the 11 oz Kraft caramel and 2 tbsp heavy cream. Microwave for about 2 minutes until melted and smooth, stirring to combine.
- Drizzle caramel: Evenly drizzle the melted caramel over the pretzel layer, covering the pretzels with a rich caramel topping.
- Drizzle remaining chocolate: Use the leftover melted chocolate to drizzle over the caramel layer for extra chocolate coverage.
- Add sea salt: Sprinkle flaky sea salt evenly over the top to enhance the flavor with a salty crunch.
- Set the bark: Chill the bark in the refrigerator until fully set, about 1-2 hours. Alternatively, allow it to set at room temperature for approximately 2 hours if fridge space is limited.
- Serve: Once set, cut the bark into pieces and serve as a delicious sweet and salty snack.
Notes
- You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter option, but the caramel may be less creamy.
- For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- If you prefer a thicker bark, use more chocolate and caramel accordingly.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerated for up to one week.
- Make sure to use flaky sea salt for the best texture and flavor contrast on top.
