Description
A refreshing and healthy Fruit Ice Pops recipe featuring fresh or frozen fruits blended with natural sweeteners and optional creamy bases. Perfect for a cool, guilt-free treat made with simple ingredients like watermelon, strawberries, mango, pineapple, or kiwi, combined with apple juice, coconut milk, or yogurt for added flavor and texture.
Ingredients
Scale
Fruits
- 2 cups fruit (choose one or a combination: watermelon, strawberries, mango, pineapple, or kiwi)
Liquid Base
- 2 tablespoons apple juice (or full fat coconut milk, solids only, or plain whole milk yogurt)
Sweeteners and Flavor
- 2 teaspoons honey (or maple syrup; optional)
- 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice (optional)
Instructions
- Blend Ingredients: Add the chosen fruit, apple juice or alternative liquid base, honey or maple syrup if using, and fresh lime juice into a blender. Blend all the ingredients together until the mixture is very smooth. Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness as desired by adding more honey or maple syrup if needed.
- Freeze the Mixture: Pour the blended fruit mixture into ice pop sleeves or popsicle molds. Place them in the freezer and freeze for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight to ensure they are fully set and frozen solid.
- Serve and Enjoy: When ready to eat, remove the fruit ice pops from the molds or sleeves and serve immediately cold. To make removing easier, you can let the pops sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes to soften slightly or run under warm water for a few seconds.
- Alternative Method (No Blender): If you do not have a blender, add all the ingredients to a wide bowl and use a potato masher to mash the fruit and mix everything coarsely until combined.
Notes
- Keep fully frozen fruit ice pops in the freezer for up to 6 months for best freshness.
- If freezing in popsicle sleeves, no need to transfer to a freezer bag; if using molds without covers, transfer to a freezer bag once frozen.
- Use fresh or thawed frozen fruit depending on availability and season.
- Adjust sweetness based on the natural sweetness of the fruit and your preference.
- Use apple juice, solid part of full-fat coconut milk, or plain Greek yogurt to vary the texture and flavor; coconut milk or yogurt adds creaminess.
- Fruit options that work well include mango, pineapple, blueberries, strawberries, kiwi, seedless watermelon, cantaloupe, or honeydew.
- Let frozen pops soften slightly at room temperature before serving for easier eating.
