Description

These Lemon Cream Cheese Bars are a delightful and refreshing treat. A creamy, lemon-infused filling is sandwiched between layers of flaky crescent roll dough and topped with a sprinkle of lemon sugar. They’re perfect for a potluck, picnic, or any occasion where you need a delicious and easy dessert.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • Cooking spray
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages refrigerated crescent roll dough, divided
  • 2 lemons, zested and juiced, divided
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prep: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with foil and coat with cooking spray.
  2. First layer: Unroll 1 package of crescent roll dough and press into the bottom of the prepared dish.
  3. Make filling: In a bowl, combine lemon juice and 3/4 of the lemon zest. Beat in cream cheese and 1/2 cup sugar until smooth. Spread over the crescent roll base.
  4. Second layer and topping: Unroll the remaining crescent roll dough and place over the cream cheese filling. Brush with melted butter. Mix 3 tablespoons sugar with the remaining lemon zest and sprinkle over the top.
  5. Bake and cool: Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool for 20 minutes.
  6. Chill and serve: Lift the dessert from the dish using the foil and transfer to a cutting board. Cut into squares. Return to the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, use room temperature cream cheese for easy mixing.
  • You can use a different type of citrus fruit, such as oranges or limes, instead of lemons.
  • If you don’t have crescent roll dough, you can use puff pastry or a shortbread crust.
