Description

Starbucks Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew is a refreshing iced coffee beverage made from slow-steeped cold brew coffee combined with a luscious homemade vanilla sweet cream. This recipe breaks down how to make the perfect cold brew coffee at home, prepare a smooth vanilla syrup, and mix a creamy sweet cream to top your drink. Ideal for a smooth, mildly sweet caffeine boost with a rich vanilla finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Cold Brew Coffee

  • 16 ounces water
  • 1/2 cup coarsely ground coffee

Vanilla Sweet Cream

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup 2% milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cold Brew Coffee: Use a French press or a large mason jar to combine 16 ounces of water with 1/2 cup of coarsely ground coffee. Seal the container with a lid and refrigerate for at least 12 hours to allow the coffee to steep slowly, extracting a smooth flavor.
  2. Separate Coffee from Grounds: After steeping, if using a French press, press down the plunger to separate coffee grounds and pour off the brewed coffee. If using a mason jar, pour the coffee through a coffee filter to strain out the grounds. Store the cold brew in the refrigerator until ready to use.
  3. Make Vanilla Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 2 cups sugar and 1 cup water. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook only until the sugar dissolves fully. Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, stir in 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract. Store the vanilla syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  4. Prepare Vanilla Sweet Cream: In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup 2% milk, 1/2 cup heavy cream, and 2 tablespoons of the homemade vanilla syrup. Stir well until fully combined. Store any unused sweet cream in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
  5. Assemble the Cold Brew Drink: Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. Pour in the prepared cold brew coffee until the glass is about three-quarters full. Top off the drink by slowly adding the vanilla sweet cream to create a creamy layer on top. Stir gently before drinking if desired.

Notes

  • The recipe yields extra vanilla syrup and sweet cream—vanilla syrup lasts up to 2 weeks refrigerated and makes about 20 servings at 1 tablespoon per serving.
  • Sweet cream lasts 3 to 4 days refrigerated and makes about 8 servings at 2 tablespoons per serving.
  • A serving refers to a single drink; the amounts for syrup and cream do not correspond to one serving size but to total preparations.
  • For best results, use freshly ground coffee beans and cold filtered water.
  • Adjust sweetness by modulating the amount of vanilla syrup added to the sweet cream or cold brew.
