Description

The Holiday Negroni is a festive twist on the classic Negroni cocktail, combining the rich amber flavors of rum with the bitter-sweet notes of Campari and vermouth, topped off with lively sparkling white wine for a bright and bubbly finish. Garnished with a fresh orange twist and cranberries, this cocktail is perfect for holiday celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

Liquor and Mixers

  • ¾ to 1 ounce amber/gold rum
  • ½ ounce Campari
  • ½ ounce sweet vermouth (preferably Cocchi Vermouth di Torino)
  • 3 oz sparkling white wine (preferably dry Prosecco)

Garnish

  • Orange twist
  • Fresh cranberries

Instructions

  1. Mix Spirits: Add the amber rum, Campari, and sweet vermouth to a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir gently until all ingredients are well combined and chilled, ensuring a smooth blend of flavors.
  2. Strain: Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice cubes to keep the cocktail cool without diluting its balance.
  3. Top with Sparkling Wine: Carefully top the drink with 3 ounces of sparkling white wine, preferably dry Prosecco, to add a refreshing effervescence and brighten the cocktail.
  4. Garnish: Finish by garnishing the drink with an orange twist and fresh cranberries for a festive presentation and subtle citrus aroma.

Notes

  • Recipe inspired by Bon Appetit.
  • My favorite brand of sweet vermouth is Cocchi Vermouth di Torino.
  • Feel free to adjust ingredient quantities according to your personal taste preferences.
  • Best enjoyed immediately as sparkling wine loses its fizz if made ahead.
  • Stir the rum, Campari, and vermouth with ice before topping to keep the Prosecco bright and bubbly.
  • Variation: Swap the rum for gin or use blood orange bitters for a deeper winter twist.
