Description

These fluffy pancakes are a classic breakfast favorite made with simple ingredients like all-purpose flour, milk, and eggs. They have a soft, airy texture and a golden-brown crust, perfect for serving with maple syrup, honey, or fresh fruit. Easy to prepare and cook on the stovetop, they make a delightful morning treat for the whole family.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir them together to evenly distribute all the dry ingredients.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and egg. This helps to incorporate the wet and dry ingredients more easily.
  3. Whisk Batter: Whisk all the ingredients together until the batter is smooth but still thick. Light lumps are acceptable, and if the batter feels too thick, add a little more milk to reach a smoother consistency.
  4. Preheat Pan: Heat a nonstick pan or griddle over medium-low heat and lightly grease it with butter to prevent sticking and add flavor.
  5. Cook Pancakes: Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the pan for each pancake. Use the back of a measuring cup to gently spread the batter into a round shape. Cook until the underside is golden and bubbles form on top, then flip using a spatula and cook the other side until golden brown.
  6. Repeat & Serve: Repeat the cooking process with the remaining batter. Serve the pancakes warm with maple syrup, honey, or fresh fruit as desired.

Notes

  • The batter can be adjusted by adding more milk if it is too thick for your preference.
  • Use medium-low heat to prevent burning while ensuring the pancakes cook through evenly.
  • For fluffier pancakes, avoid overmixing the batter to keep it light.
  • Butter or oil can be used to grease the pan to prevent sticking and add flavor.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and flavor, but pancakes can be kept warm in a low oven if needed.
