Description

This simple and delicious vanilla latte brings the café experience to your home. Customize it with your favorite milk and enjoy a creamy, frothy latte made in just minutes!

Ingredients

Units Scale

Vanilla Syrup:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract

Latte:

  • 6 ounces espresso (2 shots) or 1/2 cup strong coffee
  • 12 ounces whole milk (or milk of choice)
  • 4 tablespoons vanilla syrup

Equipment:

  • 16ounce wide-mouth mason jar
  • Handheld frother wand (optional)
  • Double-wall glass coffee mugs

Instructions

Prepare the Vanilla Syrup:

  1. Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Bring to a simmer and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract.
  4. Let cool and store in a jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Heat the Milk:

  1. Pour the milk into a mason jar and microwave for 1½ minutes, or until hot but not boiling. If needed, continue heating in 30-second increments.

Froth the Milk:

  1. Carefully remove the mason jar from the microwave using a towel or potholder.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of vanilla syrup to the jar, seal the lid tightly, and shake vigorously for 30 seconds to 1 minute. The milk will froth as you shake.

Prepare the Espresso:

  1. Brew 6 ounces of espresso or ½ cup of strong coffee.
  2. Assemble the Latte:
  3. Remove the lid from the mason jar carefully, being mindful of any built-up pressure.
  4. Pour the milk over the espresso, topping with any remaining foam from the jar.
  5. Serve immediately and garnish with whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • Frothing Alternatives:
    • Use a milk frother wand to create frothy milk.
    • Shake the milk in the mason jar before microwaving, allowing it to double in size.
    • Heat milk in a saucepan or microwave, then whisk to froth.
  • Strong Coffee: For a stronger coffee flavor when using brewed coffee, reduce the milk to create a more balanced latte.
  • Safety Tip: Use caution when shaking and opening the mason jar. The jar may become hot, and pressure can build up.
