Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound bacon, cut into small pieces
- 2 dozen Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the bacon: Fry the bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat until it becomes crispy, releasing its flavorful fat.
- Drain bacon and reserve grease: Transfer the cooked bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat, leaving the bacon grease in the pan for cooking the Brussels sprouts.
- Cook Brussels sprouts: Add the halved Brussels sprouts to the pan, stirring to coat them well in the bacon grease. Cover the pan with a lid, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook for 5 minutes to soften the sprouts.
- Add bacon back and finish cooking: Return the bacon pieces to the pan with the Brussels sprouts. Cook uncovered for a few more minutes until the sprouts are tender and browned to your liking. You may cover the pan again if you prefer softer sprouts, but watch closely to prevent scorching.
- Season and serve: Season with salt and pepper as needed, then serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Small to average-sized Brussels sprouts are recommended; larger sprouts will require longer cooking time.
