Description

This Cheesy Dorito Casserole is a fun and delicious meal, perfect for when you want comfort food with a twist. Using nacho cheese Doritos as the base adds a crunchy texture and a cheesy flavor that perfectly complements the seasoned beef and creamy cheese layers.

Ingredients

Units Scale

    For the Casserole:

  • 14 ounce โ€œparty sizeโ€ bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos
  • 1 1/2โ€“2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 10 3/4 ounce can of cheddar cheese soup
  • 1 10 3/4 ounce can of cream of chicken soup
  • 1 12 ounce can of evaporated milk
  • 1 4 ounce small can of diced green chilies
  • 2โ€“3 cups shredded Mexican cheese
  • 1 packet Taco seasoning (optional)
  • Additional Topping Options:

  • Sour cream
  • Diced green onion
  • Sliced cherry tomatoes
  • Sliced avocado or guacamole
  • Salsa

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) to prepare for baking the casserole.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: In a large pan, brown the ground beef over medium heat, then drain the fat. If using taco seasoning, add it now to infuse the beef with extra flavor.
  3. Create the Cheese Mixture: Add the cheddar cheese soup, cream of chicken soup, evaporated milk, and diced green chilies to the ground beef. Stir and cook over medium heat until the mixture is bubbly and well combined.
  4. Prepare the Baking Dish: Coat a baking dish with non-stick spray to prevent sticking. Spread half of the Doritos at the bottom, lightly crumbling them for a base layer.
  5. Assemble the Casserole: Scoop half of the beef mixture over the Doritos. Add a layer of 1 cup of shredded Mexican cheese on top. Repeat the layers using the remaining Doritos, beef mixture, and cheese.
  6. Bake the Casserole: Place the assembled casserole in the oven and bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the dish is fully heated through.

Notes

  • Customize by adding or omitting any additional toppings to suit your taste.
  • Ensure Doritos are lightly crumbled to maintain texture.
