- 3–4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper, to season
For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat and Season: Preheat the oven to 400°F. Spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper.
- Make Sauce: In a small bowl, combine ¼ cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon water, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon dried thyme, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper.
- Bake Chicken: Place the chicken in the baking dish and pour the brown sugar sauce over the top. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and add to serving plates. Drizzle the liquid from the baking dish over the top of the cooked chicken.
Notes
- Chicken: You can use boneless, skinless chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts if you prefer.
- Sauce: If you want a thicker sauce, you can whisk together 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water and add it to the sauce before pouring it over the chicken.
- Serving Suggestion: This chicken is delicious served with rice, mashed potatoes, or your favorite vegetables.
- Storage: Store leftover chicken and sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
