Description

This Brown Sugar Garlic Chicken is an easy and flavorful dish that’s perfect for a quick weeknight meal. Tender chicken breasts are baked in a sweet and savory sauce made with brown sugar, garlic, and herbs.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 34 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper, to season

For the Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Season: Preheat the oven to 400°F. Spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. Make Sauce: In a small bowl, combine ¼ cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon water, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon dried thyme, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper.
  3. Bake Chicken: Place the chicken in the baking dish and pour the brown sugar sauce over the top. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  4. Serve: Remove from the oven and add to serving plates. Drizzle the liquid from the baking dish over the top of the cooked chicken.

Notes

  • Chicken: You can use boneless, skinless chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts if you prefer.
  • Sauce: If you want a thicker sauce, you can whisk together 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water and add it to the sauce before pouring it over the chicken.
  • Serving Suggestion: This chicken is delicious served with rice, mashed potatoes, or your favorite vegetables.
  • Storage: Store leftover chicken and sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
