Ingredients
Scale
Marinade Ingredients
- ½ cup olive oil
- ½ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 5 cloves garlic, minced (approximately 2–3 tablespoons)
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1–2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
Meat
- 2 pounds New York Strip steaks
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, honey, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
- Marinate the Steak: Place the New York strip steaks in a large zip-top bag or airtight container. Pour the marinade over the steak, massaging it into the meat to ensure even coverage. Seal the bag tightly, removing excess air, or cover the container, then refrigerate.
- Allow to Soak: Refrigerate the steak in the marinade for at least 6 hours, or up to 5 days for enhanced flavor and tenderness. For longer storage, the meat can be frozen with the marinade for up to 12 months.
- Bring to Room Temperature: Before grilling, remove the steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes to ensure even cooking.
- Grill the Steak: Preheat your grill to the desired temperature. Use a grilling guide to determine the optimal temperature and timing based on steak thickness and preferred doneness. Grill the steaks accordingly to achieve a flavorful crust and juicy interior.
Notes
- New York strip steaks are preferred for this marinade, but rib eye, top sirloin, flank, or skirt steaks also work well.
- The nutritional information is an approximation since much of the marinade is discarded or does not absorb into the steak.
- Marinating times can be adjusted based on how intense you want the flavor; longer marinating yields more tender and flavorful meat.
- To avoid flare-ups on the grill, pat the steaks dry before grilling to remove excess marinade.
