Description

These Air Fryer Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos are a delicious and easy weeknight meal. Crispy, air-fried shrimp are tossed in a creamy, spicy Bang Bang sauce and served in warm tortillas with a refreshing slaw.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Air Fryer Shrimp:

  • 1 lb large raw shrimp, peeled, deveined & tail-off
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1.5 cups panko breadcrumbs (preferably Japanese-style)
  • 1/2 cup tapioca flour (or arrowroot starch or cornstarch)
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • Kosher salt & black pepper
  • Cooking spray

For the Bang Bang Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tsp sriracha (more if you like it spicier)

For the Slaw:

  • 8 oz coleslaw mix
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onion
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • Juice from 1/2 lime
  • Squirt of sriracha
  • Kosher salt to taste

To Serve:

  • 10 flour tortillas
  • Chopped green onion

Instructions

  1. Prep the shrimp: Pat shrimp dry. Set up a dredging station with 3 bowls: one with tapioca flour and seasonings, one with breadcrumbs, and one with whisked eggs and a splash of water.
  2. Bread the shrimp: Dip each shrimp into the tapioca flour, then the egg, then the breadcrumbs. Place breaded shrimp onto the air fryer basket and spray with oil. Cook in batches if needed.
  3. Air fry: Air fry the shrimp at 390F for 7 minutes, flipping halfway through. Spray the other side with oil after flipping.
  4. Make the sauce and slaw: While shrimp cooks, whisk together the Bang Bang sauce ingredients in a medium bowl. In a large bowl, toss together the slaw ingredients.
  5. Coat the shrimp: After shrimp is cooked, add it to a large bowl and toss with the Bang Bang sauce.
  6. Assemble tacos: Warm tortillas. Fill with slaw, shrimp, extra Bang Bang sauce, and garnish with green onion.
